Focus On YOU First

When is the last time you put yourself first? Too often, we sacrifice on the most important entity we have, our self. We’ll put our job, significant other, family, friends, you name it, in front of our own needs. This needs to change. Hear me out…

I’m not saying that we need to be self-absorbed, inconsiderate individuals. But I am a firm believer that you have to help yourself before you can help others. It’s the old airplane analogy: You have to secure your mask before you can help someone else secure theirs.

This is where self-care comes into play. Eating quality foods, being active, meditating, doing yoga, getting a massage, or any other form of taking time for yourself can all have a positive impact on your life. Taking this approach has made people better husbands, wives, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, friends, employees, and bosses.

We cannot fully give to others until we fully give to ourselves. We cannot fully love another person until we fully love ourselves. Find the activities that bring out the best in you, energize you, and make you feel alive! Do these activities as often as possible and watch how much more you can do for others.
